About the Trainers
Ben Miller and Madison Miller are the owners and trainers behind Mountain Mutts. With over seven years of hands-on experience working with dogs, they are passionate about helping both dogs and owners thrive. Their mission is to teach owners how to communicate clearly, build lasting trust, and create a relationship founded on understanding and mutual respect. They believe training is about much more than teaching commands-it's about building confidence, strengthening the human-canine bond, and providing dogs with the skills and freedom to enjoy life safely. Whether it's hiking off-leash, relaxing at a cafe, or confidently navigating everyday adventures, their goal is to help every dog and owner experience more freedom together. Using play-based training methods tailored to each individual dog, they help bring out the best in every canine companion.
"I have earned my Bachelors Degree in Biological Science from Marshall University. Throughout my studies I knew working with animals was the goal, however, I was unsure where I would fall in the animal industry. I started working in rescue where I adopted my dog Roo. Little did I know, he would become the drive behind my professional dog training career. I discovered there was a need for educating others on how to properly communicate with dogs, so I enrolled in National K-9 School for Dog Trainers. I graduated from the Master Trainer Course at National K-9 in 2021. There I earned my Pet CPR Certification, IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals) membership, and membership to NK9DTA (National K-9 Dog Trainers Association). I also earned the title of Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPT) and received the following endorsements: Basic Obedience, Advanced Obedience, Behavior Modification, Breed Identification, Puppy Development, Utility, Retrieval, Tracking, Scent Detection, Personal Protection, and Assistance Dog."

"After graduating from high school, I started to explore art degrees at Marshall University. As time went on, I withdrew from Marshall in order to search for a career path I was truly passionate about. Even though I have always loved the idea of working with animals, it wasn’t until I started working in rescue that I knew - this is what I was going to pursue. Working hands on with the shelter dogs, seeing them come and go from homes due to their misunderstood behavior, I knew there was a need to help them succeed in their new homes. I wanted to see these dogs beyond the adoption - assist them and their owners in their new relationship, so I enrolled in National K-9 School for Dog Trainers. I am currently working on another certification."
